Another episode during the war of the gods demand my attention, when I now gather Morania’s legends and myths in the same book. That is the creation of the malenkais. It is important to state that malenkais absolutely are not the same as Therian’s beasts!

And yet these beasts have indirectly something to do with the malenkais, because when Therian made these beasts and Aerth and Eresir then made their alurians, it provided Nisara with some inspiration. She was the goddess of the drows, and also the god who gathered the souls of the dead, a job which kept her quite busy during the war. But now she wanted her own special race, and thought of a mixture between humans and wolves. But the first creature she got her hands on was a high elf, and as revenge against the good gods, she used him. She mixed his blood with a wolf’s and cast a terrible curse upon him, so he took on the semblance of a malenkai. To those of you who have never seen a malenkai, I will describe them here. They resemble humans or elves, and walk on two legs. They have claws instead of nails and a long, bushy tail. Their heads are like wolves’ but their bodies like man's. They are covered with fur, usually black or grey. This first malenkai was not very intelligent, and Nisara could easily control him. But Avia figured out what she was up to, and stopped her. She created a place, in what ended up as Morania, where these malenkais could regain their lost personality and intelligence and thus resist Nisara’s rule. What Avia called this place is not totally clear, but rumors say that it is a word which begins with a K, but otherwise I will stay silent about this subject.

Avia called this malenkai to this K area, where he regained his knowledge of who he was, and here he rejected serving Nisara. Here he could also return to his own form, when he wished to, and thus he did not need to look like a wolf all the time. He was forced to change during the new moon, when he also discovered another unpleasant thing: When he bit others, they also became malenkais, a process which could not be revoked. He regretted it bitterly, but took as many as possible with him and hereby made a society which quickly sealed itself from the rest of the world and the horrendous war.

Nisara was infuriated, and the few malenkais who were stupid enough to leave Avia’s relatively secure location, lost control of themselves and became Nisara’s servants and warriors in the big battles. To humans and elves, these warriors were deadly, but to the malenkais who knew that their friends’ destinies could have been avoided, the pain was far greater. The humans quickly made myths and wild stories about these creatures, but what is written here is thought to be the most correct.
